In 1990, the UAW and GM opened Skill Centers. These Skill Centers are workplace based and jointly run to support the educational needs of UAW represented employees, retirees, and their families.
This document gives local joint training center coordinators the ability to better meet the needs of the membership by employing local professional educators to deliver Skill Center services.
